hello, world!
it's christmas today! so i made this blog, obviously. :-) currently writing this at 3am, in the sweltering aussie-summer-heat. like many others, at the end (and at the very start) of each year, i will fantasize about starting a blog-diary-scrapbook-journal, and actually maintaining it for more than a few days. i've managed to keep an annual diary exactly once, and it is lying about in my room somewhere. it's really nice to be able to look back on what you've done, who you've met, and what you've eaten (haha), it's only that it can be such a chore... well, i suppose that's a mindset i'll need to revisit, because it really should be something fun rather than an obligation.
anyway, the other thing is that i want to write, but i'm always scared i'll come off as illiterate, or, worse, boring... but i have to believe that being boring isn't so bad, and there's something charming in having nothing particularly interesting to say :-) so maybe i will try to be more brave this year and write down whatever comes to mind (whenever i remember it).
to start off with, i'd like to talk about some of the books i read this year! but not now, i will update this space later.

ended up really liking these ones in particular for a variety of different reasons... i think they're worth checking out :-)
- ”… if it’s a story, even in my head, I must be telling it to someone. You don’t tell a story only to yourself. There’s always someone else.”
- ive grown quite fond of sayaka murata's works, even though she basically doesn't get any new material LOL ive read most of her catalogue & they're very straightforward reads, convenience store woman is the most accessible but i liked life ceremony because it has my favourite short story, "poochie"!
